Instead, we see how Jesus commends the persecuted and afflicted church, declaring them rich in faith even when they are poor by worldly standards. In this message we are reminded that suffering for Christ is not a sign of God’s displeasure, but often a mark of genuine faith and blessing. We look at the example of Polycarp and other believers who endured hardship for the sake of Christ, and are encouraged to hold fast to Jesus, knowing that the crown of life awaits those who remain faithful—even in the face of persecution.
